Setting up a restaurant, café or take-away

1. Choose the business type

Open Restaurant Settings and choose how you trade: restaurant, café, bar, take-away, or a shop with a restaurant.

2. Tables

Add your Sections (Inside, Patio, Bar) and then the Tables in each.

3. Kitchen: printer or screen

• Kitchen printer: under Printers, add the kitchen printer and a customer receipt printer. A shop with two printers uses one for orders and one at the till.
• Kitchen screen (KDS): switch it on if the kitchen has a screen. Not every restaurant needs one — leave it off and use the printer.
• Kitchen stations and Route categories to stations send drinks to the bar and food to the kitchen.

4. Menu and modifiers

• Add dishes under Add a dish, or Paste a whole menu at once.
• Modifier groups add choices like "Well done", "No onions" or "Extra cheese", with or without a price.

5. Taking orders

1. Open the Restaurant Till, pick a table and add the dishes.
2. Send the order — it prints in the kitchen (or appears on the kitchen screen).
3. When the guests are done, print the bill, take payment (split between guests if needed) and add a tip.
